Is there ANYTHING they can do if surgery isn't an option?

My future father-in-law was just diagnosed with a hernia and hydrocele. He's been told that both require surgery to repair. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, he had a stint put in his heart and is now on blood thinner that he'll be on for a year. The ER doctor, his heart surgeon and his urologist have all said that he cannot have the surgery he needs for a year, while he's on this blood thinner. He's in a lot of pain from the hernia and my future mother-in-law says his testicle swells to the size of a grapefruit each day. They've gone everywhere looking for anything to help with the pain, but nothing is working. Is there ANYTHING else that can be done?
